Iterative Forms

Iterative Forms is a set of 7 electronic miniatures that were created with Max/MSP programming. The idea was to create a patch with several different noise-makers that could be controlled for a performance with my computer a MIDI keyboard. Since the patch runs on a lot of random factors, a preferred performance is not always achieved. I decided to label each movement by the number of performances that I repeatedly ran - the iterations.

While this concept implies that the patch can or should be run with a lot of random factors changing through each movement and iteration, I found that I was able to sketch out a rough idea of each movement and how it would be performed from beginning to end. As such, the end product plays out like a traditional set of miniatures with a cohesive aesthetic throughout.
